The Minister of Science, Research, and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Ali Zolfigol, recently emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting international scientific, academic, and technological activities in the Islamic world. The statement was made during the signing of a tripartite cooperation memorandum of the network of virtual universities of the Islamic world with the Union of Universities of the Caucasus region and the International University D8.
The memorandum aims to promote cooperation, interaction, and active international scientific, cultural, and technological participation in the Islamic world. The agreement involves holding training courses, workshops, projects, scientific conferences, and joint international exhibitions, exchanging information and capacities, providing a database, empowering and commercializing science and technology, and attracting and exchanging professors and students.
The network of virtual universities of the Islamic world is an important and rich base for strengthening and developing public higher education in the virtual platform of information technology. It aims to realize justice in the field of knowledge and thought, deepen and consolidate what has been learned, and empower students, professors, universities, and elites in education, research, culture, and skills.
The Union of Universities of the Caucasus region is composed of 170 universities in 16 countries of the Caucasus region, with the goal of improving the quality of the educational system, equating university degrees, holding scientific seminars and symposia, creating a platform for exchange between professors and students, and implementing international research projects in the field of scientific and technological activities.
D8 International University, affiliated with the G8 Economic Cooperation Organization consisting of Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey, aims to develop scientific and academic cooperation and transfer innovation and technology.
The comprehensive support of the Iranian government for international scientific, academic, and technological activities in the Islamic world is a strategic measure that aims to achieve the authority of scientific diplomacy and take advantage of the opportunity of international scientific and technological cooperation. The memorandum signed between the three international academic institutions is expected to strengthen and enhance public higher education in the Islamic world.
