TEHRAN — In a move set to invigorate Islamic studies worldwide, the book “The School of Shiism” (Persian: Maktab-e Tashayyu‘ | مکتب تشیع) was unveiled this Wednesday in Damavand. The ceremony featured the distinguished presence of Grand Ayatollah Abdullah Javadi Amoli, underscoring the theological and philosophical weight of the new publication.
Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour, head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, described the book as a vital resource filling a decades-long void in religious literature. Highlighting the text’s modern scholarly approach, Imanipour positioned the work as a key tool for fostering interfaith dialogue.
“Not since the late Allameh Tabatabaei’s masterpiece, Shi’a in Islam, have we seen a publication of this magnitude dedicated to presenting the authentic teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt to the international community,” Imanipour remarked. He expressed optimism that this release heralds a new era of engagement between Shiite thought and global academia.
To maximize its impact, plans were confirmed to translate Maktab-e Tashayyu‘ into several key languages immediately, making it accessible to international universities and researchers. The launch is viewed not merely as a book release, but as the genesis of a dynamic scholarly movement that invites critical analysis and ongoing intellectual enrichment.
