In the latest Times Higher Education Ranking, three universities from Iran are ranked among the top 400 universities in the world and 10 universities are ranked among the top 500 universities in the world.

The contributions to global science of the highest-publishing science systems in 15 Muslim-majority countries are still modest but show an increasing trend in quantity and influence, a new academic paper notes.
