The Educational Workshop: “Reading English Texts Introducing Islamic Philosophy”

QOM | The “Nafahat School of Wisdom and Mysticism in Foreign Languages” is organizing this specialized workshop focused on reading and analyzing introductory texts regarding the philosophy of Mulla Sadra in English.

This workshop adopts a specialized approach to examining the thoughts of the founder of Transcendent Theosophy (Hikmat al-Muta’aliyah). The curriculum is centered around the works of prominent international scholars, including:

  • Toshihiko Izutsu: The renowned Japanese philosopher and Islamic scholar.
  • Seyyed Hossein Nasr: The contemporary philosopher and traditionalist.
  • Ibrahim Kalin: The contemporary scholar and philosopher.

The course will be conducted under the scientific supervision of Hojjat al-Islam Seyyed Ali Sheikholeslam.

The “Nafahat School of Wisdom and Mysticism in Foreign Languages” is a specialized educational and research center dedicated to presenting Islamic wisdom and mysticism in global languages. The school’s core objectives include:

  • Specialized Education: Teaching classic Islamic philosophical texts (such as Transcendent Philosophy) in English to empower researchers for participation in international academic forums.
  • Interactive Learning: Placing a strong emphasis on active participation and enhancing the level of scientific discourse in English.
  • Cultural Bridge: Promoting the ideas of great Muslim philosophers like Mulla Sadra within global academic spaces.

Registration Requirements and Key Details

  • Target Audience: The course is specifically offered for brothers who possess a foundational knowledge of Islamic philosophy and are fluent in English conversation.
  • Prerequisites: Familiarity with philosophy at the level of Bidayat al-Hikmah or an undergraduate degree is required.
  • Registration Deadline: October 31st.
  • Interview Dates: October 31st to November 4th.
  • Course Schedule: Starting Thursday, November 5th; sessions will be held every Thursday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
  • Certification: An official certificate will be granted upon successful completion of the course.
