About the Event

The festival recognizes books, master’s theses, and doctoral dissertations on the inimitability of the Qurʾan (iʿjāz al-Qurʾān) and on interdisciplinary Qurʾanic studies. Iʿjāz al-Qurʾān is the doctrine that the Qurʾan cannot be matched in its language and content. This is the festival’s first edition. It is organized by Interdisciplinary Quranic Studies Research Institute, Shahid Beheshti University. According to the organizers, three master’s theses, three doctoral dissertations, and three books will be recognized and awarded prizes. The festival takes place at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran.

  • The Qurʾan and the humanities
  • The Qurʾan and the social sciences
  • The Qurʾan and Biblical studies (studies of the Old and New Testaments)
  • The Qurʾan and artificial intelligence
  • The Qurʾan and the cognitive sciences
  • Qurʾanic systems
  • The Qurʾan and the challenges of the contemporary world
  • Modern tools and methods in Qurʾanic studies
  • Special section: Methodology of studies on the inimitability of the Qurʾan (the Shahid Dr. Mohammad-Mahdi Tehranchi Award)

Target Audience & Eligibility

The festival is intended for authors of books, master’s theses, and doctoral dissertations in Qurʾanic studies and related fields. Works must meet two conditions:

  • they were defended or published between 1402 and 1404 SH (March 21, 2023–March 20, 2026)
  • they are written in Persian, English, or Arabic
