World University Rankings 2023/ Iranian Universities Ranked First among the Islamic Universities

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023 include 1,799 universities across 104 countries and regions, making them the largest and most diverse university rankings to date.

The table is based on 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

This year’s ranking analyzed over 121 million citations across more than 15.5 million research publications and included survey responses from 40,000 scholars globally. Overall, over 680,000 data points from more than 2,500 institutions that submitted data have been collected.

In THE 2023 , there are 65 universities from Iran, while in THE 2022, there were 58 universities from Iran.

In the latest Times Higher Education Ranking, three universities from Iran are ranked among the top 400 universities in the world and 10 universities are ranked among the top 500 universities in the world. The data has been shown in detail in the table below.

In THE 2023, there are 25 Islamic countries, and in terms of the number of universities, Iran with 65 universities, Turkey with 61 and Pakistan with 29 have the largest number of universities.
